Bullwinkle Hunt

Because of the success we have at Halls Creek, we are asked by many companies to field test products for them and document the results. Wildgame Innovations of Louisiana www.wildgameinnovations.com is one such company.

We have been testing there food plot products, salt licks, and attractants for the last couple of years. We really like their products and I can't believe how much they help us grow larger bucks and attract deer. We find there products work exceptionally well in the pre-rut and post rut when the mature bucks aren't as visible.

Attractants Work!

We were testing one of their salt lick products this past October 2004 next to one of there autumn food plots. I couldn't believe how well the deer came to it. It was the first evening we had ever hunted this food plot. We were filled with anticipation, just to see what bucks were using the field. Think how surprised we were to have a 7 year old buck offer a perfect shot opportunity First, a bunch of does came literally running to the food plot and then the salt lick (this entire hunt is available on the 2004 Halls Creek Hunting Video) Then two mature bucks came in following the does.

They fed for a long time in the food plot and then made their way to the salt lick. The buck that presented a shot was a 7 year old buck we had seen in years past and we had some trail camera shots of him. We called him "Bullwinkle" because he was so wide. He never had much tine length and even at 7 only scored 136", but he was over 20 inches wide! I was able to make a perfect broadside shot with my Mathews bow and he went about 120 yards and expired on a dead log.

It was one of the most exciting hunts I had ever been on, Wildgame Innovations made it possible.
