160" Giant!
Jason Traverse and his wife Stephanie traveled to
Halls Creek in early October to hunt. Jason has a
furniture store in Lebanon Va and doesn't get the
chance to hunt very often because of his busy
schedule. Although, Jason is an accomplished
taxidermist and hunter. He opted to come to Halls
Creek to have a chance
at a truly giant whitetail
Jason hunted hard for 3 days. The first evening he hunted an area we call the little lost field. Stephanie joined him, along with his guide Tracy for an exciting first evening. Jason and Stephanie saw several nice bucks and enjoyed watching an aggressive fight amongst a flock of turkeys. Jason saw several nice bucks but none of them were quite what he was looking for. The next morning found Jason on a ridge about 300 yards from an area we call "gray ghost" He saw two beautiful bucks feeding on acorns and traveling slowly through the woods. The larger of the two bucks was a 150" class buck. Jason never had a shot and had to settle for watching the animal disappear in a cedar thicket. There were 2 other hunters at Halls Creek that weekend and everyone had harvested a nice buck...... except Jason.... He was planning on extending his trip for a few days... But as luck would have it Jason bagged a 160" giant in the last 15 minutes of his hunt on the way back to the cabins at Halls Creek. Jason's buck scored a whopping 160" and had 3 tines broken off at the bases. If he would have had those tines we believe Jasons buck may have scored in the mid 180"! |

Louisiana Pair Scores Big in November!
Ryan Morici and Eric Wilkerson, both traveled from
Louisiana to hunt at Halls Creek. Both hunters were
very familair with whitetail hunting but had never
had a chance at a "Missouri Monster". Both hunters
bagged deer on the second day of their hunt and both
scored 163" gross!
Both men commented that it was the best hunt of their lives and both rebooked for next year! (Ryans deer is shown at the beginning of this e-mail, the deer sported 14 scoreable points) (Erics deer is pictured at the top of this article and was a perfect symetrical 10 pointer) |
