How Hard is it to Harvest a World Class Whitetail?

5/8 Typical Monster taken in Saskatchawan in 1993. It will
be
a very rare occurrence when it finally does happen. Consider
that of the 392 bucks of 170 inches or better that have been
entered into the B&C book since 2002 only 12 scored better
than 190 and only two went over 200! Dr. Grant Woods, a
top whitetail biologist from Mossy Oak claims that most
bucks have non-typical genetics. "As they age ,especially on
heavily managed private lands where there is so much
nutrition, they start to put a lot of junk on their antlers."
Woods says it is rare for a 6 year old buck to be typical
these days.
WHERE WILL THE NEXT RECORD BE BROKEN
Most biologist agree that it will be in the Mid-West or in
Western Canada. Terry Drury of M.A.D believes it will
happen in Illinois. However, Dr Grant Woods believes it will
happen in Central Missouri North of the Missouri River. He
stated in a recent Outdoor Life article " Last year a bow
hunter harvested a typical buck measuring 196" on a 3000
acre private farm. It was the third largest buck he had
videoed that year. He has since taken trail camera pictures
of the larger deer and they lived through the season. He is
convinced the next record will come from Missouri!
What are the odds?
The top B&C County in the US is in Wisconsin. Of the last
33,580 whitetails bucks harvested only 15 were big enough to
make the B&C book! That puts the odds at about .0045%. In
other words. You have a 1 in 3000 chance of being struck by
lighting..... A 1 in 10 million chance of being attacked by a
shark..... and a 1 IN 361 MILLION CHANCE OF KILLING THE
NEXT WORLD RECORD CLASS DEER!
