  • Bucks start their Seasonal Antler Development
    8pt May 06

Spring is an exciting time on Halls Creek hunting lands! The does' are actively giving birth to new fawns, and the bucks are beginning their seasonal antler development. Halls Creek has a reputation for harvesting some fantastic world-class bucks every year. We utilize a supplemental feeding program on our hunting lands to help the bucks reach their maximum potential as well as helping the does with their increased nutritional needs during lactation. Halls Creek also supplies excellent year round nutrition in our food plots and fields. We have designed our own food plot blends to maximize forage production nutrition and yields. Out stringent managment programs have payed off and are very obvious in the animals we harvest each year.

Prepare for Emergencies in the Deer Woods

The worst thing that can happen in the deer woods is for an acute sickness to come on or to have a serious accident. It is imperative that deer hunters react quickly to serious accidents or sicknesses. There are four tools that can be used to help minimize risk in the deer woods. The first is the "buddy system" we all know how important it is to hunt with someone else just in case you need help. Plus it can be lot more enjoyable to share the hunting experience with another hunter. Second, try to carry a cell phone, they can be a life saver. However, cell phones have their own problems, like dead batteries, lack of service in remote areas, and the inablility of a seriously injured hunter to use it. Third, carry a two way radio to communicate with others in your hunting party. Finally, try to carry a Personal Locater Beacon (PLB). These are a relatively new device originally designed for climbers but are becoming more popular in the deer woods. A PLB is a pocket sized emergency beacon that when activated sends out a digital distress signal, which is detected by the NOAA's Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites. Though viewed as an emergency tool of last resort, PLB's allow for a quick rescue. For more information go to Google.com and type in key word Personal Locater Beacon.

Turkeys Hunters Enjoy 100% Success in 2006
    Curt Turkey 2006

Halls Creek built its' reputation on harvesting mature-trophy-class whitetails, but it has some of the best "big woods" turkey hunting found anywhere in North America! Curtis Redden traveled from his home state of Mississippi to hunt some of the huge Missouri "Toms". Curtis utilized a "deer-hunting" set up to harvest this 25lb giant on the opening day of the 2006 Turkey Season. Curtis Harvested this giant in one of Halls Creeks' prime deer hunting areas. In fact, Curtis utilized a decoy and one of Halls Creek deer blinds to entice this "Tom" within shot gun range. Curtis was guided by one of the best guides Halls Creek has to offer and our guide did all of the calling and engineered the successful set-up. Halls Creek is recognized as one of the best deer hunting destinations in North America, but many hunters overlook the exceptional turkey hunting opportunities. Halls Creek hosted 4 hunters the first week of this years season. All four hunters harvested mature tom turkeys within their first two days of hunting. That marks another 100% success ratio for both our deer and turkey seasons! If you would like more information on hunting Halls Creeks' abundant gobblers, please visit our website.
