Hunter: Ivy L
Location:: Halls Creek Central Missouri Land

Ivy, traveled with his wife Nancy to hunt the giant whitetails of Missouri with Halls Creek Outfitters. This was the longest distance Ivy had ever traveled to hunt whitetails. Ivy celebrated his 76th birthday and wanted to make the best of it. He is a very experienced hunter, but had never had the chance to hunt whitetails like we have in Central Missouri. Right at last light on the first night, Ivy and his guide found themselves staring face-to-face with the the largest whitetail Ivy had ever seen on the hoof. Ivy had the giant at 50 yards and as luck would have it, his gun malfunctioned and he was unable to close the deal. Ivy spent a sleepless night after the disaster occurred and could not stop thinking about that buck. The next night Ivy and his guide were camped out early in the same spot hoping to get another crack at the giant. Late that evening the giant entered the clover field and made a scrape on an overhanging oak branch. This time Ivy made a perfect shot and harvested the largest buck of his life. An accomplished hunter from Western TN, hunted hard for this buck. He saw this buck on the first morning of his hunt, and passed him because he did not think he was big enough. After reviewing video he realized this was a buck he had to have. He hunted at Halls Creek for 3 more days and never got a crack at the giant. Bert had to leave to go back to TN for a business meeting, but could not quite thinking about this giant. 6 days later Bert returned and on the first night of his hunt he harvested this fantastic buck. Great job Bert!

But on the first morning of his hunt, he and his guide rattled up this "cautious" giant. Wayne had to make a quick decision, when this brut circled down wind and was ready to bolt. Jason, hunted hard on his hunt to Halls Creek. On the first evening of his hunt he did not see a shooter anywhere. On the next morning, he hunted a thick timbered, oak ridge, right along side a known doe bedding area. That morning Jason only saw two deer and neither of those had any head gear. But on the second evening of his hunt, he was camped out on a biologic clover plus field and saw over 20 deer. This 4 year old 150" buck made the mistake of getting into Jason shooting lane. What a fantastic buck! Great job Jason!
